Washington Democrats Appear Clueless on How to Fix… Anything.  Democrat lawmakers have just begun to reveal their plans for helping the state’s struggling small businesses, which have once again been asked to bear disproportionate pain for the spread of the coronavirus (despite no scientific data showing business activity causing the increase in cases). Unfortunately, it has become obvious that the Democrat legislators are overmatched by the crisis, and have no real clue how to fix the damage Jay Inslee’s shut down orders have caused. As the Shift article states, “For the Democrats, they see the coronavirus epidemic as just another opportunity to advance their radical agenda. The ideas they promote demonstrate Democrats don’t really understand how the economy works, and their lack of empathy for workers forced into unemployment by Democrat Governor Jay Inslee’s mandated lockdowns show they are the wrong leaders at the wrong time.” (Shift Article)

Take our straw poll on who should replace Jay Inslee if he “fails up” into the Biden Administration. President-elect Joe Biden has already selected former Secretary of State John Kerry to become the global “climate czar,” which is the position Inslee has been seeking for the past couple of years (since the job requires no actual results or accountability).  Biden still could appoint Inslee to some secondary “green” position in his administration, and we know our governor will be ready to pack a box of maggot-infested apples from his back yard and take the next flight out to Washington, D.C.  So, if this does happen, we are curious who our readers support to become our next governor.  (Shift Straw Poll)

It’s becoming more clear, even to the media, that Governor Inslee refuses to listen. Washington State retailers are the latest victims of the governor’s one-man rule, by his refusing to listen to their concerns and suggestions before imposing his latest round of restrictions. “If only the retailers had done what the state employee unions have done, and given millions to Inslee for previous campaigns, they too could receive a pay increase from the state in the middle of a pandemic.” (Shift Quick Take)

Did Governor Inslee “jump the shark” with his latest round of closing businesses?  Last week, Jay Inslee continued exercising his strongman rule over Washington’s economy, once again shutting down state businesses due to his previous policies failing to prepare for this predicted second wave of coronavirus infections. Yet this time, “Legislators, from both sides of the political spectrum (but mostly Republicans), are calling for a special session to balance the state’s budget and help families (and businesses) survive Inslee’s shut downs, and also to pass legislation to put limits on his dictatorial style of executive orders. Unfortunately, this isn’t likely to happen anytime soon, as this would put an end to the one-man-band approach being inflicted on the residents of Washington by Governor Inslee.” (Shift Article)

Shift’s last Newsmaker Interview was with Representative-elect Greg Gilday from the 10th Legislative District.  Gilday erased an election-day vote deficit, eventually winning his seat by 891 votes with all votes counted. Gilday shared his thoughts on his come-from-behind victory, Governor Inslee’s failure to call a special legislative session, Washington Democrat’s tax policies pushing Boeing to move jobs to other states, and his legislative priorities for the 2021 legislative session. (Newsmaker Interview)

The Washington Education Association spent millions of dollars attempting to buy the 2020 elections.  As Shift’s article states, “For the Washington Education Association, it’s not about our children’s education; after all, kids do not pay union dues. It’s about more money for the union and more money for their Democrat friends in office who can keep the gravy train running the WEA’s way.” (Shift Article)

Governor Inslee has been quick to take credit for random reductions in the spread of the coronavirus over the past eight months, so now it’s time he actually takes responsibility for the current increase, and the loss of wages for thousands of Washington residents during the holiday season.  Just a couple of weeks ago, Inslee’s vapid re-election campaign was avoiding discussion of his mistakes in office by bragging that the governor’s policies were keeping Washington safe.  Yet yesterday, the governor took time away applying for any “green” job in the Biden Administration to announce he has again shut down restaurants, bars, fitness centers, bowling allies, theaters, and indoor gatherings, due to the record level of new coronavirus cases under his watchful eye.  Workers from these jobs will soon be joining thousands of others applying for unemployment benefits, just a week after Washington State led the nation in new unemployment claims. Since the governor has failed to include other people in his partisan decision-making, the increase in COVID-19 cases and the new round of job losses are fully his responsibility. But you won’t hear that from him. (Shift Quick Take)

Seattle Democrat Mayor Jenny Durkan has been trying for years to solve the Seattle homelessness problem which she and her far-Left City Council, and the left-leaning Seattle City Mayors and City Councils before them, have created.  Unfortunately for the taxpayers of Seattle, they are going end up footing the bill for the latest, Durkan-inspired, $5.4 million cleanup effort.” (Shift Article)

Many of Seattle’s 500 parks have been taken over by homeless encampments, making them unusable for many city residents.  This is the latest example of liberal Seattle’s failed homeless, drug, and crime policies. These policies have only proved successful in making government employee unions wealthier as the number of government employees needed to “solve” the problem increases. Meanwhile, thousands continue to live the cruel consequences of liberal policies the Left created and are now enabling. (Shift Quick Take)
