The Daily Briefing – May 9, 2023

TODAY WE FEATURE A BRIEF DAILY BRIEFING, AS STATE SENATOR MANKA DHINGRA’S ANNOUNCEMENT FOR WASHINGTON AG MAY HAVE BROKEN THE INTERNET – AND WE DON’T WANT TO GET BLAMED FOR PILING ON.

DEMOCRATS JUMP TO DEFENSE OF MANKA DHINGRA – SHE’S NOT A SOCIALIST LIKE KSHAMA SAWANT, SHE’S HER OWN KIND OF ANTI-POLICE DEMOCRAT – AND BRANDI KRUSE REJECTS RACIST ATTACK!

Former TV reporter and current independent journalist (and podcaster) Brandi Kruse has decided in her current role that she does not have to suffer personal attacks in silence, and so she responds frequently to those who want to silence her. The latest to try is State Democrat Party Chair Shasti Conrad, who tried to play the race card on Kruse, who would have none of that, as you can see (here)…

ANOTHER CITY COUNCIL STEPS UP TO MAKE DRUGS ILLEGAL – THIS TIME IT’S SPOKANE

BUSINESS AS USUAL: SNOHOMISH COUNTY DEMOCRATS CELEBRATE HIGHER STATE SPENDING

A new internet-only media outlet Washington State Standard is launching with former (Everett) Herald columnist/political reporter Jerry Cornfield in the lead, and he checks in with a feel-good piece about higher state spending, noting “(M)ost years, the capital budget enjoys strong bipartisan support. This year was no exception as it passed in each chamber without a dissenting vote.” You can read where some of that money is going here …Washington State Standard

AND FOR SOUND TRANSIT, A FIGHT BREAKS OUT OVER WHICH CITY GETS SOON-TO-BREAK LIGHT RAIL FIRST, LYNNWOOD OR BELLEVUE?

The beleaguered bureaucrats at Sound Transit are used to more than their share of problems, as Shift has reported for years, and the fight between Lynnwood and Bellevue over which one gets their choo-choo first is the latest issue. Compounding problems, as you can read in this (Everett) Herald editorial favoring Lynnwood, is that choosing Bellevue would mean funding a train that doesn’t actually go across the water. Read more about the tussle here … ShiftHerald.
