WA GAS PRICES UP 87 PENNIES THANKS TO CAP AND TAX – JUST LIKE JAY INSLEE PROMISED, “JUST PENNIES.”
REALITY OF DEMOCRATS’ DISINFORMATION OF “CAP AND TAX” COMING HOME TO ROOST
Governor Jay Inslee led the way in misleading the public, when he was trying to sell his expensive and inefficient cap and tradetax program, promising that it would cost only “pennies” as Shift has highlighted. Now that camp-and-tax is a disastrous reality, gas prices are skyrocketing in our state, with Center Square reporting the “average price of a gallon of regular unleaded was sitting at $4.71 statewide on Monday, up from $4.68 the week prior, according to AAA data. This price hike marks the 18th week this year of rising fuel prices for Washingtonians, following the implementation of the new carbon tax earlier this year.”
You can read more about how many more of Jay Inslee’s pennies you’ll be coughing up per gallon, even though “the second carbon auction (was) only completed on May 31 and the results not yet publicly announced, (so) it remains to be seen how much recent price increases have already priced in the new carbon auction”, here… Shift, Center Square.
SPEND TAX MONEY WHERE IT WAS PROMISED – NEVER SAY DEMOCRATS
You can’t blame the Seattle Times for trying, but does anyone really think that Democrat legislators will ever do things like spend money the way they have promised voters? Now that they have broken enough promises to raise taxes every year of Jay Inslee’s decade as governor to support their record-breaking $70 Billion state budget? That’s the hope, with the Times pleading “state lawmakers must remain true to the law and refrain from ogling the hundreds of millions of unexpected dollars with designs on using it elsewhere.”
The law in question is the unconstitutional state income tax the Supreme Court approved for the Democrats earlier this year, a nest egg which “has hatched to the tune of $849 million in the state’s first year of collecting the capital gains tax, $600 million more than projected.” You can read about the Times concerns about Democrat mischiefrequiring “assurances that lawmakers in the future don’t change the rules and broaden the list of uses for the capital gains revenue to include frivolous pet projects” here… Seattle Times.
HEADLINE SAYS IT ALL: WA GOV. INSLEE’S ‘BIG TALK, INEFFECTIVE ACTION’ ON CLIMATE CHANGE IS THE WRONG APPROACH
And it’s good that this Tri-City Herald headline was spot on, because there is a bit of a paywall on the story. Suffice to say, when anyone holds Jay Inslee’s promises up against his actual results, the “green governor” does not fare well, like here… Tri-City Herald.
ANOTHER DEMOCRAT QUITS OLYMPIA, PENSION BOOST ON THE WAY
Every year it seems another high-profile Democrat legislator decides to leave Olympia, mid-elected-term, and get appointed to another government job – which always pays more than the government job they previously had. The latest case of liberal government pension-padding comes from the Kitsap Sun, which reports “State Sen. Christine Rolfes (D-Bainbridge Island) will join the Kitsap County Board of Commissioners following an appointment to the board.”
You can read about how the State Senate’s Ways & Means Committee chair will hold onto her seat awhile longer, to help influence the appointment process for her replacement here … Kitsap Sun.
AND A REPUBLICAN MOVING ON FROM STATE PARTY
In the private arena, current Washington State Republican Party Chairman Caleb Heimlich announced he will be returning to private sector politicking after 12 years with the state party. You can read more about his timing here… Associated Press.
