The Inslee Administration is dealing with a second sexual harassment suit involving a Human Resources director at DSHS. The suits claim the Director made sexual suggestions towards two separate employees while promising them career advancement. Splits are growing within Councilmember Kshama Sawant far-left coalition and now the socialist’s movement has lost some of its gleam. Yet the story could have gone further and examined whether Sawant’s socialist policies do what she promises they will do.  She claims they will help the poor, reduce the wage gap, provide cheaper housing, reduce homelessness. etc. Truth is, studies show her policies on minimum wage have hurt low income wage earners, housing policy have caused higher housing cost, criminal justice policies have led to mass desertions of experienced officers, homeless policy has caused a worsening crisis that is impacting all neighborhoods and a tax policy that makes it more expensive for poor individuals to live and work in Seattle. Plus, remember, if Sawant had her way, Colin Kaepernick would be the Seahawks QB instead of Russell Wilson. (Seattle Times)

Seattle’s Social Justice Warriors continue to pressure restaurants to deny moderates and conservatives places to gather within the city. Along with blocking speakers on public campuses and attempting to ban guests on public radio stations, the SJWs are demonstrating they have limited tolerance for any viewpoint other than their own in the 206 Area Code. We reported last week that, yet another failure of the Seattle Public Utilities system has caused sewage to spill into Puget Sound and closed swimming down at Golden Gardens Beach. Word has now come out that the spill was far worse than previously estimated – ten times worse. Instead of 16,000 gallons of raw sewage, the real figure is 165,000 gallons. (Q13 News)

The drought is forcing state agencies, local water and irrigation districts to work with farmers, irrigators and environmentalists to devise creative ways to provide adequate water for crops and fish. Many have set plans to reduce allocation of water for irrigation. The dry weather has also highlighted the use of “draught relief wells” and how they impact the region’s water supply. (Tri-City Herald)
