Justice Delayed: Inslee’s Corruption Trial Set for AFTER He Leaves Office
In a not-so-shocking turn of events, the corruption trial involving Governor Jay Inslee’s administration won’t take place until after he’s safely out of office and the election is over. The whistleblower lawsuit, filed by the Citizen Action Defense Fund (CADF) on behalf of Scott Smith, a former WSDOT employee, is set for August 18, 2025—long after Inslee’s term ends. Smith was allegedly forced out of his job for refusing to lie about the impact of Inslee’s cap-and-trade program on fuel costs, numbers that didn’t exactly fit the Governor’s rosy narrative. Despite WSDOT’s attempt to shut down the lawsuit, a judge ruled that the case has merit, allowing it to proceed. The discovery phase is set to wrap up in March 2025, but the actual trial is conveniently delayed until after Inslee’s out of the spotlight. How convenient! By then, Inslee can wash his hands of the whole affair and avoid any messy headlines before election day. Typical timing, right?
Taxpayer-Funded Strike Survival Kit: How Democrats Keep Their Union Donors Happy
Boeing is cutting off health benefits for 33,000 striking machinists by the end of the month, leaving thousands of workers in Washington and Oregon scrambling. But don’t worry, the Democrat-run state is swooping in to save the day with your taxpayer dollars. Thanks to Senate Bill 5632, the state is offering striking workers a 60-day special enrollment period for health insurance through the Washington Health Benefit Exchange. Convenient, right? The unions strike, Boeing calls their bluff, and the state steps in to make sure the labor bosses — who generously contribute to Democrat campaigns — don’t feel the pinch. Future campaign cash: secured. Workers can sign up for health plans through the Affordable Care Act or Medicaid, and the state even offers to help them cover the costs. Meanwhile, Boeing’s other non-union employees are facing furloughs, but no one’s rushing to cover their healthcare. All this while Boeing tries to get the union to agree to a contract, which, naturally, they rejected. But hey, why settle when the state is there to prop them up? Read more at the Everett Herald.
Ferry Fail: Inslee’s Electric Dream Leaves Washingtonians Stranded (Again)
Once again, Jay Inslee’s mismanagement has led to yet another failure in Washington’s ferry system. The M/V Wenatchee, the largest ferry in the U.S. undergoing a hybrid-electric conversion, was supposed to be back in service by now. Instead, it’s been delayed until summer 2025, over a year late. And why? Because apparently, converting these ferries is really complicated—who could’ve guessed? Washington State Ferries (WSF) is struggling to manage the technology, facing unexpected changes, and falling further behind, just like with everything else they’ve touched. The state has dumped $1.7 billion into ferry conversions and electrification, with billions more needed, yet passengers are still dealing with constant delays and breakdowns. Inslee’s administration is pushing his failed “green” agenda with little regard for the fact that it’s left Washington’s ferry fleet in shambles. But hey, at least the “green” boxes are checked, right? Too bad reliable service for Washingtonians isn’t one of those boxes. Read more at MyNorthwest.com.
Democrats: Crying 'Corruption!' While Loading Up on Cash to Buy Votes—How Original!
According to KTTH’s Jason Rantz, Washington Democrats, despite their constant whining about the corrupting influence of big money in politics, are now openly spending millions to buy another election. Between August and September alone, they poured nearly $9 million into political ads, while Republicans managed just $385,000. Rantz points out that Democrats are outspending Republicans because they know their policies are unpopular and need to spend big to push the narrative that Republicans are to blame. He calls out figures like gubernatorial candidate Bob Ferguson and Rep. Pramila Jayapal for their hypocrisy—Ferguson criticizes corporate donations while taking money from Boeing and Pfizer, and Jayapal rails against wealthy interests on TV while accepting big-dollar contributions.
Democrats are also spending millions to defeat ballot initiatives like I-2117, which would repeal the Climate Commitment Act and reduce gas prices, lying about its effects on road project funding. Unions are throwing cash into opposing I-2124, which allows workers to opt-out of state-run long-term care insurance, falsely claiming it harms women and working families. As Rantz contends, Democrats only seem to care about big money when it’s Republicans benefiting, and with media silence on this hypocrisy, it’s up to voters to call it out. Read more at KTTH.
