Democrats Strike Again: Putting Ideology First, People Last, and Bills Skyrocketing!
Thanks to Democrats, Puget Sound Energy Customers Face Rate Hikes
Chalk up another price increase to Democrats’ terrible policies. Puget Sound Energy (PSE) customers will now pay even more for both natural gas and electrical service due to a new rate increase. The average monthly bill for residential electric and natural gas customers is set to increase by $4.11 and $7.68 respectively, exceeding previous estimates of less than $2.
PSE blames various factors for the rate increases, including the escalating price of natural gas in the wholesale market and an increased participation in the Schedule 129 Low-Income Program. A spokesperson for PSE was careful to note that the increase is not due to Democrats’ so-called Climate Commitment Act,Democrats’ ban on natural gas (House Bill 1589), or PSE’s new 2-year plan for future natural gas and electric service costs recently submitted to the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC).
No, cost increases for those policies are set to hit PSE customers by 2025 when the average monthly bills could rise by $7.84 for electric and $13.96 for natural gas. In 2026, further increases of $11.20 for electric and $1.51 for gas are likely, though final rates are subject to UTC’s discretion. These extraordinary cost increases will be undeniably brought to customers by extreme green state climate laws that – if the past is any indication – will most certainly fail to meet goals. It’s just another way Democrats put ideology ahead of hardworking families’ interests. Read more at KIRO NEWSRADIO.
A Case in Point: Reporter Obscures Reality to Protect Democrats
You gotta appreciate those lefty reporters who readily embrace every liberal argument in favor of the state carbon tax without a second thought, then find themselves dedicating extra effort to muddy its painful effects on everyday drivers. Such is the case in a recent article in Crosscut. From the article: “The carbon tax has been cited as the cause behind a rise in gasoline prices ranging from 21 to 50 cents per gallon, but the factors influencing gas price fluctuations are significantly more intricate.”
Yep, complexity abounds. Still, it’s curious how Todd Myers managed to foresee—with striking accuracy—the consequences of price hikes resulting from carbon taxation a year prior, as well documented by Shift, simply by examining the outcomes in California, the sole other state audacious enough to enact such legislation. Seems mainstream reporters conveniently overlook articles that accurately evaluate the repercussions of liberal policies they themselves endorse. Read the article in question at Crosscut.
Seattle Leftists Learn a Lesson They'll Likely Forget
Surprise, surprise – when you tax something, people tend to use it less. Who knew, right? Well, certainly not leftist Democrats.
It appears that – once again – a leftist policy meant to “stick it” to big business has backfired. Pushed by the far-left group, Working Washington under the guise of “taking profits” from tech giants, Seattle passed a so called “Payup tax” in 2022. Now, shortsighted Seattle leftists are finally realizing that the people hurt the most by the tax are, in fact, delivery drivers and their everyday customers.
Seattle leftists – like always – were warned by business owners (including restaurants and tech companies) that the regressive tax would most impact drivers by reducing their income and work hours. But – like always – the leftists refused to listen, only to realize their own stupidity soon after. This time, it took them just over 100 days after the tax went into effect to consider rolling it back. The question is, will the leftists learn their lesson? We think not. Escaped zebra still at large in North Bend
The case of the missing zebra continues in North Bend.
The saga began Sunday when four zebras got loose from a trailer after the owner pulled over on Interstate 90 near North Bend. After all four initially got free, three of them were eventually corralled and returned to the owner. One zebra, however, remains at large.
Officials are now asking the public to stay away from areas where the zebra has been spotted. For more information on the ongoing case, read the latest from King 5.
OVERHEARD ON THE INTERWEBS
Bob Ferguson has proved himself to be the maestro of political gaslighting.
Surprise, surprise… UW’s administration lacks the spine to confront extremist students.
