Who knew trashing a campus could pay off with scholarships and zero repercussions?
UW's Masterclass in Capitulation: No Consequences for Violent Vandals
Last week, UW President Ana Mari Cauce stuck a deal with the antisemitic activists who took over the university’s Quad for weeks. In exchange for the activists leaving the Quad, the university would give scholarships for Gazan students, add encampment representatives to divestment committees, and conduct a review of study abroad programs. UW admin also agreed not to hand out any citations to those participating in the unsanctioned encampment.
The agreement came after the antisemitic activists escalated damage to the campus. The Post Millennial:
“Last week, students, faculty, and staff arriving on campus discovered what was described by UW’s Vice President of the Office of External Affairs (OEA) Randy Hodgins in an email to staff obtained by The Daily as a ‘major escalation’ of violent and antisemitic graffiti across ‘virtually every building’ on the campus. The vandalism included graffiti on the base of a statue of the university’s namesake George Washington being tagged with the words ‘Save a life. Kill your local colonizer,’ and a symbol used in Hamas propaganda to target Jews.”
This week, the antisemitic activists disbanded. And, in true leftist fashion, they left an epic mess behind. Once a beautiful part of UW’s campus, the Quad is now marred by trash, graffiti, a damaged walkway, and ruined grass. One professor estimates the damage in the “hundreds of thousands of dollars.” But that’s not the whole story.
We now know that the encampment was deemed so dangerous, UW police were advised not to enter it – even to investigate an alleged assault. During the encampment, a female journalist was assaulted during a pro-Israel march and Antifa militants attacked journalist Johnathan Choe. A Jewish student was threatened by hammer-wielding men – many more feared attending classes. Police closed the case due to a lack of suspects and Washington’s AG’s office directed Jewish students to a non-existent hate crimes hotline.
It’s truly shocking that the violence in the encampment and the violent actions of the activists were not enough for UW admin to take decisive action. It took damage to most buildings on campus for UW President Ana Mari Cauce to take any action and – even more disgraceful – the action she took was to capitulate to violent, antisemitic extremists. UW should be ashamed of itself and, if the violent activists face no consequences, the university’s admin should. Read more at the Post Millennial.

Mullet Calls Out Ferguson for Overreacting
As Shift WA previously reported, far-left gubernatorial candidate Bob Ferguson used aggressive political and legal maneuvers to disqualify two opponents who shared his name from the governor’s race. Rival Democrat candidate Mark Mullet is now condemning Ferguson for going too far in responding to the incident. To recap, Ferguson threatened legal action against the two other Bob Fergusons after they were recruited to run as last-minute candidates. They withdrew rather than deal with a legal battle.
Specifically, Mullet is accusing Ferguson of pressuring Secretary of State Steve Hobbs to break the law by demanding a reordering of candidate names on the ballot. While Mullet condemned the tactic of running two other candidates with the same name, he also criticized Ferguson’s overreach, questioning his character and commitment to lawful election processes. And – quite honestly, we cannot help but agree. Read more at the Washington Standard.
Surprise, Surprise: Leftist Activists are Manipulating Asylum Seekers
Leftist activists are allegedly manipulating asylum seekers into occupying parks, disrupting Seattle city council meetings, and protesting to pressure local leaders to fund additional housing – that’s according to a new report from KTTH’s Jason Rantz. Rantz recently interviewed asylum seeker Daniel Vingo who warned that these actions could jeopardize their asylum claims.
The leftist activists know that many asylum seekers don’t understand the protests’ purpose or legal consequences. For example, after housing funds expired, leftist activists moved migrants to a Seattle park, and proceeded to demand more funding. Vingo told Rantz that many migrants comply without understanding the risks, potentially leading to deportation. From KTTH:
“‘I have friends who are participating in those protests. And when I ask them, ‘Why are you going?’ they say, ‘We are just protesting because they (activists) say we must go.’ Okay, I’m not judging that,’ Vingo said, adding that he’s worried someone could be deported for violating the law during one of the protests.”
OVERHEARD ON THE INTERWEBS...
Oh look, Bob Ferguson’s hypocrisy is showing again…
Why are crime rates high? Oh yeah…
