From inflated numbers to deflated outcomes, Inslee’s electric vehicle mandate is a costly charge with no plug in sight.

Inslee's Electric Vehicle Mandate: Another Failure in a Long List of Failures

Washington state’s climate policies, particularly regarding electric vehicles (EVs), are wasteful and redundant, burdened with costly and unnecessary measures – but we didn’t need to tell you that. As Todd Myers of the Washington Policy Center points out, our state is struggling to meet even the initial requirements – let alone the ambitious long-term goals – of the California’s zero-emissions vehicle (ZEV) mandate that Inslee adopted.

Inslee’s ridiculous mandate aims for a complete transition to 100 percent electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles by 2035. Accurate interpretation of the data points to our state falling far short of the target – but the Inslee Administration has never been too concerned with accuracy. As Myers explains, the state is inflating the numbers to make it appear as though the mandate is on course by including of out-of-state vehicle purchases in the calculations. The inclusion is a departure from California’s interpretation and potentially illegal.

The reality is that Washington is falling far short of its own targets – and the Inslee Administration is refusing to acknowledge the shortcomings. Inslee is far too engrossed in his attempt to establish an extreme green legacy to reverse course on a failing policy that relies on hard-earned taxpayer dollars. Once again, it’s hardworking Washington families who will bear the financial burden of Inslee’s failed green agenda.

In the end, it’s just another environmental goal the Inslee Administration will fail to meet, despite siphoning of hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars for their favored campaign contributors to meet their special goals. Read more on the Washington Policy Center.

Republican Warnings Ring True as Clean Energy Goals Fall Short and Prices Soar

Well, surprise, surprise! It turns out that all those Republicans warning about the higher prices paid by consumers due to Democrats demanding the elimination of energy sources, were right. And of course, the clean energy goals behind the prices increases and future shortages are not being met by any of Jay Inslee’s green dreams. According to a report from the Pacific Northwest Utilities Conference Committee, electricity in the region could falter when people need it most “without new power sources, transmission lines and battery storage.”

As the Seattle Times admitted, “Not only is demand for energy rising faster than expected, it’s also surging more severely and at new times. Clean-energy goals are forcing the closure of power plants run on fossil fuels — but renewable projects aren’t outpacing that lost power by much, if at all.” It’s all just another failure to add to Inslee’s failed record. Hotly Contested State Senate Race Already Attracting Big Money

The 10th Legislative District – which includes Whidbey Island – is highly competitive swing district. That means GOP State Sen. Ron Muzzall has a big target on his back and – true to Democrat tactics – that also means he is facing intense opposition funded by a leftist dark money group. Already, New Direction PAC (a group dedicated to electing Democrats to the State Legislature) has already targeted Muzzall with over $40,000 spent on attack mailers. With the district shifting toward the left in recent years, the group clearly sees an opportunity to gain a State Senate seat for Democrats. It’s just another reminder of the stakes in the 2024 election – and the importance of voting. Read more at the Washington Observer.

Jay Inslee, the Snake Oil Salesman

Jay Inslee has proved to be quite a snake oil salesman for his extreme green agenda. During a press conference promoting electric vehicles, Inslee went so far as to suggest that EV school buses can quiet down loud children and even mature them. He made the bizarre claim while touting his new rebate program of up to $9,000 for EV purchases or leases. Inslee went on to claim there is a huge demand for EVs – of course, it’s unclear why the state would then need to incentivize purchasing EVs.
