Bob Ferguson’s gubernatorial race: will the showdown of namesakes leave him feeling like the odd Ferguson out?

Bob Ferguson vs. Bob Ferguson vs. Bob Ferguson

Three people named Bob Ferguson are running for governor – and far-left Attorney General Bob Ferguson isn’t happy about it. At least one of the other Bob Fergusons will join the 28 other candidates for governor on the August 6th primary ballot. The amusing stunt is orchestrated by – as the Washington State Standard put it – a conservative activist who wants to “confuse” voters. Of course, if the other two Bob Fergusons want to run for governor, they must be allowed. It’s a free election after all.

Far-left Ferguson doesn’t seem to see it that way. In an extreme overaction, far-left Ferguson tweeted a quote by former governor Christine Gregoire claiming that the entry by the other two Fergusons constituted an “attack on our democracy” and that the move was “potentially illegal.” Whatever one may think about the issue, claiming that it’s not an “attack on our democracy” for people with the same name to file to run for office is extremely dramatic. And claiming it’s “illegal” is ridiculous. But that hasn’t stopped far-left Ferguson from threatening legal action and sending cease and desist letters.

Far-left Ferguson’s threats caused one of the other Bob Fergusons to withdrawal from the race. He wrote:

“After my candidacy was announced, I was faced with harassment and legal action if I did not withdraw from the race. I was publicly labeled a “threat to democracy” by another candidate and his supporters. In a typical hypocritical fashion, this other candidate’s actions are the true threat to democracy. I believe this shows that the other candidate fears he has not effectively done enough to stand out, or that he thinks voters are not competent enough to think for themselves. The threats made to my family and I, along with the shady tactics used to deliver messages, do not frighten or intimidate me. It is unfair to my family, friends, and supporters to deal with bullish behavior by someone that is too afraid to stand toe-to-toe with me.

“For that reason, I rescind my candidacy.”

State law makes provisions for how to differentiate candidates on the ballot with the same name. That decision rests with Secretary of State Steve Hobbs, who may consider including information like occupation. And, despite extreme reaction, the two new Fergusons will appear early on the ballot, while the far-left Ferguson will be listed 13th. Read more at the Washington State Standard and Fox13.

The Times Finally Admits Western WA is Cloudy with No Chance of Solar

A recent headline in the Seattle Times reads, “Can overcast Seattle be a solar-powered city? Is it even worth trying?” Funny enough, The Times headline says what Times writers have been ignoring since Jay Inslee started running for governor – that having extreme environmentalists demanding more rooftop solar power in Western WA is a waste of taxpayers and ratepayers money.

The article admits, “High costs, lack of sun make large-scale projects not as productive, efficient.” And the Left knows it, but pushes on because it allows people to do things that make them feel good about themselves. From the article:

“Sure, rooftop panels won’t generate as much electricity, but little projects do add up and pave the way for more to follow, Clark said. The option also gives people and businesses something they can do today; it’s a chance to be part of the solution.”

Read on for more reality like,“Western Washington is one of the worst places in the contiguous United States for solar energy. Perhaps even the worst place.” And, “Solar power accounts for less than 1% of Washington’s total electricity demand. That’s one-tenth of the power generated by wind farms and one-fiftieth of the electricity from hydropower.”

Not to mention nuclear, which the Times certainly does not want to do.

The Tragic Consequences of Seattle’s Anti-Law Enforcement Policies

On a very serios note, a 37-year-old chef at Harry’s Fine Foods, was stabbed to death after two men attacked him in Seattle’s Capitol Hill light rail station. Despite efforts by Good Samaritans to save him, he succumbed to his injuries at Harborview Medical Center. The tragedy is just another reminder if the consequences of the Left’s anti-law enforcement/pro-criminal policies that have led to skyrocketing crime rates, including violent crime. Sound Transit maintains the system’s safety, but anyone who has used light rail knows not to take their word for it. Meanwhile, the search for the perpetrators is underway and police urge anyone with information to come forward.

Burien’s Camping Ban at Center of Controversy

A quote from Robyn Desimone – owner of a flower shop across main street from City Hall in Burien speaks volumes about public safety in certain communities across our state. Desimone recently told KUOW:

“I conceal carry every day. I don’t work at a bar, I don’t work in downtown Seattle. It’s a flower shop on main street in a small town. I should not need to go to those lengths to feel safe in my business.”

Given safety issues impacting her business (including nearby tents, drug use, and property crimes), Desimone plans to move her business to the city of Des Moines this summer.

The public safety crisis facing many business owners and residents in Burien comes as the debate over the city’s ban on homeless encampments intensifies given the King County Sheriff’s refusal to enforce the ordinance. The U.S. Supreme Court is reviewing a similar case in Oregon and will weigh in on this issue in coming weeks. Read the full story on KUOW.

OVERHEARD ON THE INTERWEBS...

It appears that no Democrat understands the irony of threatening political opponents with prosecution then claiming they are the ones assaulting democracy…

Is anyone really surprised that this is who the Seattle Times hires?
