Schools, universities, and even some businesses are starting to close for the holidays to return in the new year, and so Shift will (largely) do the same. You will be hearing from us over the next two weeks, but Shift won’t be populating your inbox quite as often.
However, when we return in 2024, rest assured we’ll be ready to sift through the onslaught of political coverage coming our way, sort it out, and deliver highlights to you, starting with the next legislative session on January 8.

Senate Republican Leader John Braun, representing the 20th Legislative District in Southwest Washington, discussed his legislative priorities and concerns in this week’s Newsmaker Interview. Braun, a U.S. Navy veteran, highlighted the GOP Caucus’s focus on policy areas for the upcoming session, critiqued Governor Inslee’s decision on distance learning, and shared views on budget, parental rights, and criminal justice reform in response to rising crime rates attributed to previous Democratic bills.
