Why might Democrats finally win WA’s 14th Legislative District? Because a federal judge decided to redraw the lines and toss out Republicans—talk about a map designed for victory, not fairness.
Redrawn Maps and Redrawn Rules: How Democrats Got Their “Winning” District
A recent article in the Seattle Times explained to readers, “Why Democrats may finally win this WA district.” The district in question is the 14th Legislative District. Of course, the Times explanation is filled with talking points pushed by Democrats. So, like Shift WA has previously done, we’d like to set the record straight on what exactly happened in WA’s 14th LD.
In April, a federal judge approved redrawn boundaries of the legislative district. The decision, purportedly made to comply with the U.S. Voting Rights Act resulted in a map designed to bolster Democratic chances in upcoming elections. Under the guise of ensuring equal opportunity for Hispanic voters, the new district lines conveniently oust three Republican state senators and two Republican state House members. Ironically enough, one of the casualties is Latina Republican State Senator Nikki Torres.
Of course, the newly drawn 14th LD conveniently tilts the political landscape in favor of Democrats – but that’s not all. The federal judge also agreed to shift the district from an odd-numbered to an even-numbered one, seemingly to align with higher Latino voter turnout during presidential years.
So, why could Democrats finally win the 14th LD? Because an extreme partisan judge demanded a legislative map drawn for specifically partisan – and rather racist – reasons.
That’s the type of democracy the Democrats favor, when they get their partisan way.
Washington Dems’ Lame Attack: Slamming Reichert for Fighting Crime and Human Trafficking
Washington Democrats are attempting to attack Republican gubernatorial candidate Dave Reichert by highlighting his work as a lobbyist, but – to put it mildly– the accusation falls very flat. That’s because Reichert’s lobbying efforts focus on combating human trafficking and crime – not exactly the “gotcha” Democrats want people to believe. The absurdity of slamming Reichert for fighting against such serious issues underscores just how desperate Democrats are to attack him, especially given who their far-left Democrat Bob Ferguson’s pro-criminal record.
Washington's “Leadership”: High Taxes, High Crime, and the 4th Worst Unemployment Rate in the Nation
Washington state boasts the fourth worst unemployment rate in the nation, despite politicians in Olympia touting our state as a “leader.” The reality is starkly different, revealing a state plagued by mismanagement. Democrats’ tax-and-spend policies have burdened businesses with constant tax hikes, stifling economic growth. Their pro-criminal stance has only worsened the situation, with rising crime rates deterring business investments. While Democrats propose new taxes and raise existing ones, the business environment suffers, leading to higher unemployment. It’s clear that under Democratic leadership, our state’s “superiority” is more fiction than fact.
Seattle’s Crime and Homelessness Crisis: Dow Constantine’s Masterclass in Urban Decay
Prominent Seattle business leaders are calling out King County Executive Dow Constantine as crime and homelessness worsen downtown, causing Starbucks to shut a busy location. Business leaders like Patrick Foley of Lake Union Partners slammed Constantine for keeping jail staffing low, enabling open-air drug markets, and neglecting public safety. Jeffery Judson-Baker, also from Lake Union Partners, criticized the lack of action, describing downtown Seattle as “apocalyptic” and demanding real solutions over political inaction. Businesses like Lululemon and North Face have closed due to the deteriorating conditions, with many blaming progressive policies for allowing the crisis to spiral. Read more at KTTH.com.
