SHOULDN’T THE FAR LEFT DEMAND COMPETENCE INSTEAD OF A KING COUNTY LEADER FOR WASHINGTON’S PUBLIC LANDS COMMISSIONER?
THE DEMOCRAT CHOICE ASSUMES “SOCIAL JUSTICE’ IS THE JOB OF THE STATE LANDS COMISSIONER
The arrogance of the Left is often on display in campaigns, but in Washington state politics the Lands Commissioner job is the one to watch for what the extreme environmentalists who govern the Democrat Party are really demanding for the money they contribute – and why they know better than everyone else what is good for them. That’s why the announcement covered by the Washington Observer that “King County Councilmember Dave Upthegrove got a big leg-up from the environmentalist left this week in the crowded race for Commissioner of Public Lands” with the endorsement of the Washington Environmental Council’s political action committee shows that the Left no longer has an interest in managing public lands as the state constitution requires, but prefers a different approach.
Instead, the Democrats are embracing the King County approach of Councilman Upthegrove, who defines “social justice” as the job of the Lands Commissioner, not the public lands under the commissioner’s control. Which is liberal-speak for higher energy costs for the rest of us. Read on to see how the Left is hoping you will not notice higher energy prices when you vote… Washington Observer.
ANOTHER DAM PERSPECTIVE: WHY WOULD WE EVEN CONSIDER RIPPING OUT DAMS THAT PRODUCE THE CLEAN ENERGY WE NEED?
It seems the further away you get from Eastern Washington’s Lower Snake River dams, the less you rely on rational thought about their value. That’s the timely reminder from an op-ed in the Spokesman-Review raising the local perspective that if saving salmon is really the goal for liberals than “(I)nstead of spending literally tens of billions of dollars breaching the dams, we should be directing those funds to science-based salmon recovery programs.”
Of course, “science-based” only works for Democrats when it sends taxpayer money to the groups providing them the answers they want, and the campaign dollars they demand. So read on to understand why Democrats don’t actually care that the “region’s hydropower is more critical than ever as we move to meet targets for clean energy.” … Spokesman-Review.
IT’S NOT A THREAT, BUT IF YOU DO NOT DO WHAT DOW WANTS, DOW WILL PULL YOUR POLICE PROTECTION
The city of Burien is learning that if you contract out some services, you give up some power. Or, as King County Executive Dow Constantine likes to look at it, he now has the power over your city’s policies because he has a contract for your police.
That’s the reality captured in a Seattle Times op-ed by the city of Burien’s mayor who writes that while his city passed a law recognizing “(I)t’s time to prioritize public safety over politics and treatment over tents” it really doesn’t matter if “King County’s leadership won’t listen, (so) cities like Burien will be forced to go it alone.” … Seattle Times.
RACIST LEGISLATIVE MAPS DRAWN BY SEATTLE JUDGE WILL STAND FOR NOW
It was a long shot to expect the U.S. Supreme Court would save Washington state from the redistricting process sabotaged by its own Democrat legislators, so it’s no surprise the Washington State Standard reports that the court “steered clear of Washington state’s redistricting battle” and “refused to block use of new legislative district boundaries intended to give Latino voters in the Yakima Valley a better chance of electing the candidate of their choosing” – which was defined by a Seattle judge as only Democrat candidates.
That’s a win for liberals, as it means that legislative district lines drawn for specific racist outcomes will stand for this election. Read on to see how it’s just a coincidence that no Democrats but “(F)ive of the region’s state lawmakers – all Republicans – will find themselves living in new districts due to the redrawn boundaries.” …Washington State Standard.
REMINDER: DEMOCRAT LEGISLATORS PUT CRIMINAL RIGHTS AHEAD OF THE REST OF US
A story from the Northwest Asian Weekly reminds us of the problem of having Democrats write laws about public safety – mainly, that the Democrats prefer laws which benefit criminals instead of the criminals’ victims in our society. Perhaps that’s why in Kirkland, which is represented by Democrats who have recently been passing pro-criminal rights laws in the state legislature, “residents reported a surge in residential burglaries affecting individuals of Indian and South Asian descent.”
The Democrat representatives in the area don’t much care about this, perhaps because it doesn’t impact climate change. Unfortunately, like much of the mainstream media, the Asian Weekly just supports Democrats, so they don’t care much in calling out those accountable either. … NW Asian Weekly.
