IS THIS THE GOAL FOR ROGER GOODMAN AND HIS FELLOW HOUSE DEMOCRATS?
BELLINGHAM COUNCIL SHOWS WA HOUSE DEMOCRATS IT’S POSSIBLE TO NOT JUST LEGALIZE HARD DRUGS
The Seattle Times featured a stunning contrast in news coverage today, starting with columnist Danny Westneatobserving that while Bellingham is one of the most liberal cities in the state it was “striking — and probably a leading indicator for the rest of the state — that Bellingham just made it a crime to use hard drugs in public.” And earlier this morning, the Times reported Washington House Democrats refused to make it a crime to possess those same hard drugs.
Even worse than the vote, Representative Roger Goodman, a noted drug user before legalization occurred in the state, tried to gaslight the public by claiming that “The theme, really, is to provide a helping hand rather than handcuffs.” In reality, for anyone watching the actions of House Democrats the past few sessions, the theme is “Legalize It.”
As Republican Representative Gina Mosbrucker pointed out about the Democrats weak approach to drugs “There’s too many off-ramps … there’s too many places where you could fail, where we’re setting people up to fail.”

ZAPPONE’S PARTISAN “COW” IS OUT OF THE BARN, SO SPOKANE COUNCIL WANTS TO CLOSE THE BARN DOOR NOW
It took less than a week for a rational member of the Spokane City Council to step up and try to fix the disastrous court ruling, which Shift pointed out just rewarded far-Left Council member Zack Zappone for his illegal partisan behavior during the redistricting process last year. The Spokesman-Review highlighted that “Spokane City Councilman Michael Cathcart is proposing an amendment to the city’s charter that would limit the power of the council to determine how district boundaries are drawn.”
As Councilman Cathcart dryly stated, “Having witnessed what went on in the fall, it’s clear, whether by accident or intention, the (redistricting) process is not working.” Now we’ll see if the liberal majority on the city council will actually do the right thing and remove themselves from the business of ignoring the public’s recommendations to draw their own district lines to help them get elected. To learn more about how Councilman Zappone’s sleazy approach could be banned in the future, read here… (Shift, Spokesman-Review)
BINDA CONTINUES TRYING TO GET KICKED OFF LYNNWOOD COUNCIL
The ongoing embarrassment that is Lynnwood City Councilman Josh Binda continues to spiral, with reporting from Jason Rantz that the city is refusing to reimburse the controversial newcomer for a recent personal promotional trip he took to Washington, DC while claiming to represent the city. The serial rule-breaking councilman claimed to be a keynote speaker representing the city, when in fact, he was a gate-crasher at a national conference where he bragged it’s “a blessing… to be a difference maker, break barriers, and be a voice of a generation.” A fellow Councilmember took a dimmer view, pointing out that “he misrepresented himself as speaking on behalf of the council and elevated his actual role to keynote speaker.” You can see more of Councilman Binda’s problems with the truth by reading here… (Shift, MyNorthwest.com)
NOTHING UNINTENDED ABOUT THESE CONSEQUENCES – DEMOCRATS WANT STATE INCOME TAX MONEY
You know the liberals must be in trouble when a college professor calls out their state income tax folly, yet that’s what the University of Washington’s Victor Menaldo did on the editorial pages of the Seattle Times. He pointed out that the Democrats’ new state income tax will hit “small retail shops, independent contractors, freelance workers, small law firms and consulting agencies, (which) account for 95% of total businesses in the United States. Assuming that Washington is representative of the rest of the country, this ostensible “excise tax” is going to have a big impact on our state’s economy.” The professor even cautions about “the fear that the Washington Supreme Court ruling will open the door to future taxes, including taxing C-corporations’ capital gains in the form of a corporate income tax, may lead to several chilling effects.”

LABOR STEPS UP FIGHT TO MAKE STARBUCKS COFFEE EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE
You can always count on the folks at the Washington State Labor Council to advocate for policies driving prices even higher for all families – including the “working” ones. The latest example is the push to gather a progressive storm against Starbucks, which you can read more about here. (The Stand)
