Everett school teachers are poised to go on strike to “disrupt the start of the school year,” president of the Everett Education Association, Jared Kink, said. Keep in mind that, “Everett teachers are among the highest paid in the state,” according to the Everett Harold.
Boeing’s Bill Sherry, “even as we navigate a highly competitive global market, we are continuing to invest billions of dollars in the state.” Last year, despite tax-breaks, Boeing increased spending in Washington by $500 million – spending a total of $13.5 billion, most of which the company spent on paying employees as well as other companies in the state for services.
Sound Transit no longer faces legal challenges now that Mercer Island has decided to drop their lawsuit against the agency and hand over the express lanes to be used for the light rail in exchange for a settlement of around $10 million to help facilitate traffic congestion and flow.
Eastern Washington
Hanford’s partially collapsed tunnel will be receiving more stabilization in the form of grout. The Department of Energy is hoping the grout will prevent any future collapse in the waste storage tunnel.
