For Democrats, why win fair and square when you can redraw the game board?

Democrats Redraw District Lines, Place the Odds in Their Favor

After serving in the Washington State Legislature for nearly a decade, GOP State Rep. Gina Mosbrucker (Goldendale) has announced that she will not seek re-election in the fall. Why? Democrats managed to redistrict her seat – the 14th legislative district – to favor themselves. In a recent interview will KTTH’s Jason Rantz, Mosbrucker pointed out:

“If you look at the map, there’s these nice blocks in this puzzle. But there is this very intentional claw like an arm with a claw on it that literally grabs around my house and pulls me down into the 17th instead of the 14th. The 14th is my home, I have deep roots there. I’m sixth generation now …. I can literally take a baseball from my business hotel, throw it across Highway 97 and hit the other district. It’s crazy.”

Mosbrucker also highlighted how blatant Democrat gerrymandering has impacted other legislators, including Senator Nikki Torres (R-Pasco), the first Latina senator in Washington State history, who lost her seat due to the redistricting. Mosbrucker pointed out that despite Republican efforts on the electoral commission, significant changes made by a Seattle-based federal judge undermined their impact.

Democrats have clearly demonstrated that they will do anything to tilt the electoral balance their favor, especially during presidential election years – just another reminder for voting and volunteering this election cycle. Read more at MyNorthwest.com.

Anti-Israel UW Protestors' Wish List: Cutting Ties with Boeing and Divesting from Reality

The delusional, antisemitic protestors at UW have certain demands, including that the university divest from Israel (by ending study-abroad programs) and cut ties with Boeing. According to one protestor, “Boeing has been building weapons that are used by Israel in committing genocide against Palestinians… UW funneling students towards this company has meant that many students who go to this school are put into jobs that are complacent in genocide.”

Nevermind the insane claims against Boeing and Israel, if anything proves that these spoiled brats have an oversized view of their power and importance, it’s their demand that UW cut ties with Boeing. The UW administration has disgraced themselves by cowing to the anti-Israel protestors, but cutting ties with a corporation that gives millions to the university is – obviously – a step too far. As UW President Ana Mari Cauce wrote in an email, “Boeing’s support for the UW in time, talent and funding cannot be replaced by other endowment sources, nor would we choose to sever our relationship if they could be.” As the Seattle Times pointed out, Boeing has donated more than $100 million to UW since 1917 – university buildings and endowments are named after the company. And, if there is anything we know about the liberal establishment, it’s that money speaks volumes. Read more at the Seattle Times.

Questions of Bias in Freeway-blocking Gaza Protesters Case

Last week, Judge Andrea Jarmon, known for her liberal activism, ruled on charges against anti-Israel activists who blocked a freeway. The judge dismissed criminal trespass charges against three defendants, citing concerns about using social media posts in the investigation. Among the defendants were a Seattle Public School teacher – a disturbing sign of the state of Seattle schools – and an Antifa militant with ties to MS-13.

But Judge Jarmon appears to have anti-Israel sentiments herself. Shortly after the deadly October 7th attacks, the judge liked social media posts advocating for Hamas and Palestine. Complaints have already been filed against Jarmon for potential bias. Read more at The Post Millennial.

Your Long-Term Care Tax Money: No Refunds

If voters approve Initiative 2124 and the controversial long-term care tax becomes optional, workers who opt out of the tax will not receive a refund for what they have paid thus far. That’s what Employment Security Department Commissioner Cami Feek admitted during a meeting last week. Feek said, “People don’t get their money back when they opt out. They opt out future-facing from that point forward.” We can’t say we are surprised, given our state government’s money-grabbing tendencies. But it is a reminder of the importance of voting this November. Read the Washington Policy Center’s take here.

Yet Another Tax for Seattle Residents

Seattle exemplifies what happens when far-left politicians have free reign on the levers of power. Never shy about digging deeper into taxpayers’ pockets, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell introduced a transportation levy proposal costing property owners $41 monthly over eight years, totaling $1.45 billion. The levy will – allegedly – fund transportation safety and maintenance, though no one should hold their breath when it comes to seeing actual results. Afterall, the levy adds to previous levies meant to have done what this levy purportedly will do. Read more at MyNorthwest.com.

Missing Zebra Apprehended After Nearly One Week

The search for the last of the four escaped zebras ended Friday evening. Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) and private citizens finally managed to capture the zebra, named Shug, after nearly six days of roaming the foothills of the Cascades. Despite her adventure, Shug appeared to be in good condition, according to RASKC. Read more at the News Tribune.

OVERHEARD ON THE INTERWEBS...

The Congressional race in the 4th CD just got a whole lot more intriguing with a surprising twist…

Oh look, Bob Ferguson concludes he’s gubernatorial material after all.

Ah, the irony of social justice warriors attempting to shutdown free speech.
