DEMOCRAT DOUBLE STANDARD? PATTY MURRAY SNARED IN FTX SCANDAL TWO WEEKS AGO – WHERE IS THE MEDIA FOLLOW-UP ON THE FRAUD MONEY TRAIL?
CONVICTION OF MURRAY DONOR BANKMAN-FRIED RENEWS ATTENTION ON PATTY’S ‘$500K DARK’ MONEY FUNDRAISING
The entire team at Shift is sorry that it was correct in our assessment two weeks ago that the Seattle Times coverage of Senator Patty Murray’s corrupt fundraising practices would yield no actual questioning of the state’s senior elected official about her involvement in corruption outlined in a federal court case. That initial story was buried for some bizarre editorial reason on a little-read Saturday morning, and the Senator has yet to provide any public comments about her role in the sleazy dark money fundraising breakfast, which she had previously kept hidden.
Now that her significant benefactor Samual Bankman-Fried has been convicted of several counts of fraud, hope springs eternal that some reporter will actually ask Senator Murray to answer the questions swirling around the “$500k dark” that her private breakfast yielded. You can read on to decide for yourself if a Republican would receive such kid-glove treatment from reporters normally excited about covering corruption here… Shift, Seattle Times.
THIS WEEK'S NEWSMAKER INTERVIEW...
Tessa Ester, the president of the upcoming 2024 Roanoke Conference, joined us for this week’s Newsmaker Interview. The conference, scheduled for January 26, 2024, at the Ocean Shores Convention Center, is already generating significant interest, with tickets going on sale last week, and the Roanoke Board advising early purchases due to an anticipated sellout, like this year.
Ticket prices range from $155 for Standard Registration to $50 for Students, including several meals. In her interview, Ester offered insights into the conference’s background, registration details, and highlighted the presence of Jennifer Sey, a former U.S. Gymnastics Team Member and Levi executive, who will share her experiences combatting the “Woke Mob” as the Friday night featured speaker, with hints about the Saturday evening speaker yet to be revealed.
STATE CAN’T OPERATE ONE OF ITS TWO MENTAL HOSPITALS, SO MENTALLY ILL CRIMINALS ARE RELEASED BACK TO THE STREETS
The mismanagement of our state’s mental health system under Governor Jay Inslee continues to pay cruel dividends, with even high-profile attacks on first responders going unpunished. That’s the story from KOMO 4 after “charges have been dismissed against the man who was arrested for throwing a brick through the windshield of an ambulance as it was responding to an emergency in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood in August.”
Even the liberal regime at the King County Prosecutor’s office wants no blame for letting this happen, complaining “(I)f prosecutors could have kept this case going, we would have. This is really just another example of Western State not doing their part.” Of course, that’s where the lack of Inslee’s “leadership” comes in, as you can read to see if justice will ever be done since the suspect “did not show up for his court hearing this week” here… KOMO 4.
TRIAL LAWYERS JUMP ON CHANCE TO USE ALASKA AIRLINES AND ITS CUSTOMERS AS NEW SOURCE OF DEMOCRAT CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS
You can see that lawyers act faster than reporters, as lawsuits are already coming after a bizarre and thankfully non-tragic Alaska Airlines story about an off-duty pilot that broke at the same time as Sen. Murray’s FTX scandal. Trial lawyers are already looking to cash in KING 5 reports despite the lack of any injuries, claiming that passengers “were left in the dark about what was happening” during the incident.
Now, the courts will decide how much money the lawyers deserve to get from future Alaska Airlines passengers because these recent passengers “did not know what was wrong” on the flight as it was diverted to another airport. You can read on to see how the scare tactics will include references to “pervasive mental illness” among pilots here… KING 5.
LACEY HOMELESS HOTEL CAUSING CRIMINAL PROBLEMS
Shift has noted how the approach to homelessness in our state’s capital has had serious negative impacts on surrounding cities. Now, the Olympian is highlighting charges that the ”opening of the Maple Court enhanced homeless shelter in a former Days Inn on Quinault Drive in Lacey has resulted in more crime at area businesses.”
The enhanced shelter “houses 100-plus residents who used to occupy an encampment in Olympia,” and under “the state’s rights-of-way program, which aims to get people out of freeway encampments and into housing, they were moved to the Lacey site.” You can read on to see how the city manager is “well aware of the increased activity” and sees that increased criminal activity as part of a “settling period” here… Shift, Olympian.
SENATE DEMOCRATS DIP INTO TAXPAYERS’ POCKET TO COVER FOR THEIR ONGOING ILLEGAL EMAIL SECRECY
The willingness of legislative Democrats to thumb their collective noses at court decisions – and even some attention from folks like Shift – over their illegal tendency towards secrecy with public documents never ceases to amaze. We are reminded of that truth again by the Tri-City Herald reporting that the “Washington state Senate settled a lawsuit for $7,000 last month after court filings in the case alleged that some Senate lawmakers were ‘silently withholding’ public records.”
This is not an isolated case, as the Democrats running the state will likely have to dip into the taxpayers’ pocket again since a “similar lawsuit regarding ‘silent withholding’ against the Washington state House of Representatives is scheduled to be heard on Jan. 12.” You can read on to see what the Democrats were trying to keep secret from the public here… Shift, Tri-City Herald.
A PUBLIC SERVICE – HERE’S WHAT LIBERAL ACTIVISTS WILL BE TRYING TO GET LIBERAL LAWMAKERS TO BUY IN OLYMPIA IN ‘24
The scary season was supposed to be over with Halloween, but not for the folks at the Washington State Standard. They decided that we should jump past next Tuesday’s election and look at how “in a short session like next year’s, lawmakers only have 60 days to act. And they will have a lot more money to spend than they anticipated, with a range of revenues ahead of expectations.”
You can get a head start on where liberal activists want Gov. Inslee and the Democrats to waste all that new spending, recognizing that “one thing’s certain: there will be winners and losers” by reading here… Washington State Standard.
