ISN’T IT TIME FOR GOVERNOR INSLEE TO ADMIT HE IS WRONG?
THE GOVERNOR SAID ONE THING LAST YEAR, BUT NOW THAT SCIENCE HAS BEEN SCRUBBED WAY
Shift has been writing for over a year about how Governor Jay Inslee’s cap and tax program would cause gas prices to soar. The Washington Policy Center has also on the story throughout, reporting that “for more than a year, Governor Inslee and staff and the Department of Ecology claimed their new tax on CO2 emissions wouldn’t significantly increase gas prices. That turned out to be completely inaccurate, causing Ecology to scrub their web page of those erroneous claims.”
Instead, the governor and his allies blame others – like oil companies – for the impacts of his own misguided policies. Yet the Policy Center dives deep into the data, and writes the “claims from the Governor and Climate Solutions are entirely false.” Read on here… Washington Policy Center.
LAST WEEK'S NEWSMAKER INTERVIEW...

Senator Gildon has ideas for fixing Democrats’ “carbon tax”
Governor Jay Inslee and Democrat lawmakers claimed that their Cap and Trade legislation, also known as a “carbon tax,” would only have minimal costs for consumers, despite evidence suggesting otherwise. The policy has been in place for six months and has resulted in a 45-cent increase in the price of a gallon of gas, making Washington state’s gas prices the highest in the country. Democrats have continued to downplay the reasons behind the price increase, but their arguments lack credibility. In response, Senator Chris Gildon, a Republican, wrote a letter to the Inslee Administration, urging administrative changes to reduce consumer costs and provide relief to lower and middle-income workers affected by the Democrats’ policy. Sen. Gildon joined us to discuss his efforts.
