Democrat hypocrisy seems to be on full display lately. So, this Throw Back Thursday, we’re looking back on three examples of stunning Democrat hypocrisy that will leave you shaking your head.
- Democrats’ hidden million-dollar donors.
Perhaps the most stunning example of Democrats’ hypocrisy (nation-wide) is their willingness to take and use “dark money” for their political purposes, while lambasting the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2010 decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission and portraying Republicans as relying on big-bad secretive donors. Unfortunately, we here in Washington State are all too well acquainted with this particular example of Democrat hypocrisy.
It wasn’t too long ago that California billionaire Tom Steyer was caught trying to illegally funnel millions of dollars into a Washington State PAC – and then was let off the hook almost immediately by the Public Disclosure Commission (PDC). The close call hasn’t stopped Steyer from continuing to play a role to promote Democrats’ extreme “green” agenda in our state.
Steyer and his NextGen Climate Action Committee have coordinated with our state’s most liberal activists, including the Progress Alliance of Washington, to funnel millions of dollars into Democrat campaigns. The secretive group does this through a variety of front groups like Fuse Washington. It’s unclear just how much money Steyer has managed to funnel to Democrats in our state thus far. However, it is clear that Steyer plans to have an impact in our state’s future one way or another.
- Democrats’ war against tax “loopholes.”
Democrats often grumble over tax exemptions, calling them “tax loopholes” and blaming Republicans for creating them and/or not closing them. Of course, as is so often the case, the Democrats version of the truth is not, well, the actual truth.
Since 2005, 140 bills relating to tax incentives have passed out of the state Legislature and been signed into law. The 140 bills included a total of 172 new or amended tax incentives. And, of those 140 bills, Democrat legislators were the prime sponsor of 120 of them (a whopping 86 percent). Adding to the Democrats’ lion’s share of responsibility is the fact that a Democrat governor has signed and approved every “tax loophole” for the last 30 years.
In other words, Democrats are blaming Republicans for policies the Democrats created. And, adding insult to injury, they attack Republicans for not fixing the problems Democrats created over the last generation.
- Democrats’ warm welcome of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
When Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Seattle in September, Democrats like Jay Inslee and Seattle Mayor Ed Murray welcomed him with hardly a public of word of dissent. Let’s be clear, the Chinese president presides over a state that regularly violates basic human rights. Yet, Democrat seemed perfectly content to overlook this rather inconvenient truth and shut down much of downtown Seattle during his visit to make sure he is not inconvenienced.
The same could not be said, as KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson pointed out at the time, about Democrats’ treatment of the state of Indiana. Just a few months ago, Inslee and Murray banned all publically funded travel to Indiana. Why? Because Indiana passed a religious freedom law which Inslee and Murray deemed discriminatory.
scooter says
“Democrats are blaming Republicans for policies the Democrats created.” No shit, that’s what they do, Obamacare, and HIPAA actually doing what the liberals wanted it to do, and there are cries from everywhere on the left that Republicans don’t have the answer, yet nobody remembers that Republicans weren’t asked any questions, they just want their broken toys fixed without doing any of the actual work.
