This week, the Washington State Democrats launched a #DemSelfie social media campaign to try and divert attention from how poorly its candidates did in the primary election earlier this month. Using #DemSelfie, participants are encouraged to take a selfie and explain why they are proud to be a Democrat.
Considering the #DemSelfie campaign’s limited participation thus far, SHIFT would like help out with a couple suggestions for captions based on the state Democrat platform and the policies promoted by elected Democrats in Olympia:
I’m a Democrat because …
… I want a state income tax!
… my union told me I am!
… I like government running my life?
… I think higher taxes are the answer to every problem!
… bigger government is always better!
And finally, that oldie, but goodie: I’m a Democrat because it’s easier than thinking.
Feel free to share your own Democrat definitions at #DemSelfie on Twitter – because the state Democrats need more than their staff to participate in this campaign – or it will turn out just like the primary.
How about: Huh? I’m a Demo… what!?
Why does Shift WA have to be negative. What happened to civility? Does Rob McKenna support this type of demeaning politics? His former campaign manager runs this site. I wonder if Rob is supporting it behind the scenes, so the other party can be tarnished with no blood on his hands.
Thanks, Bernie. The Republican hierarchy doesn’t seem to comprehend that a lot of people avoid politics because so much of it is immersed in negativity, name calling, and ridicule. If we have common sense and honesty on our side, we don’t need childish rock throwing.
Unfortunately, Bernie, negative campaigning works. Not saying that I like it either, but the Ds have mastered it, and common sense and honesty seem to fare poorly in our current hyperpartisan environment. After all, Mr. Obama comes from the Chicago school of politics, which is bloodsport.
