Two weeks remain until election day, so votes are flowing in to county auditor offices around the state. To help you see who is trying to influence those votes, Shift has been reporting on where the liberal money is flowing in this year’s campaigns.
Today we look at Jay Inslee’s SuperPac, Our Washington. It is supposed to be operated independent of his campaign. However, given that Frank Greer, whose company produced the television ads for Our Washington in 2012, is a close advisor to Inslee, evidently being “independent” is in the eye of the beholder.
Not that the mainstream media would ever point out that seeming illegality.
This year, Our Washington is expanding its reach beyond Inslee’s campaign – by transferring money to legislative races. After spending $9 million to help elect Inslee in 2012, Our Washington has only dropped $677,000 into attack ads this year.
Instead, Our Washington’s second-largest expenditure is a transfer of $360,000 to the PAC dedicated to attacking Republican legislative candidates, the New Direction PAC. It appears that the big donors to Inslee’s committee – the state’s trial lawyers, state employees union and SEIU – want to try and buy Inslee a compliant legislature, the better to push through a state income tax.
So, if you see any ads from New Direction attacking your legislator, remember that the new direction the liberals want is to go leads straight into your wallet.
