Yesterday, Oregon’s state Democrat-controlled Legislature passed a bill that removes the sunset provisions on the state’s current fuel mandate. Democrats chose to pass the legislation amidst the still developing scandal involving now former Gov. John Kitzhaber and the unethical influence extreme environmental organizations have on the policy-making process.
Considering the fact that Oregon’s fuel mandate was crafted using the very process that brought about Kitzhaber’s downfall, the decision reveals just how out-of-touch Democrats are when it comes to advancing their extreme agenda. Democrats will advance their extreme agenda at all costs, no matter the circumstances or the consequences to people.
One Oregon Democrat stated, “This is a historic day for Oregon and the world is watching as we lead on innovative solutions to reduce carbon pollution from fuels.”
The world is watching all right. We’re all watching Democrats vote the party line, supporting special interests groups just proven corrupt.
Republicans expressed frustration with the bill’s passage, particularly Democrats’ refusal to allow Oregon voters to decide whether or not they approve of the scandal-tainted legislation. Republicans have pointed to independent studies that show the fuel mandate could cost over $1.00 per gallon. They warned the policy would harm Oregon families and small business without a dent in carbon emissions.
This all sounds very familiar. Of course, it should. The link between disgraced Kitzhaber and Jay Inslee is quite strong, as Shift has reported.
