Gov. Jay Inslee spent much of last week laying more groundwork for his (vice) presidential campaign Inslee made an appearance at the 2018 Global Climate Action Summit to tout much-discussed, not-passed environmental policies like his energy tax. State Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz also participated in the climate action summit. (Washington State Wire)

Western Washington

You may have heard, King County is facing a homeless crisis. “Everybody wants to help everybody, but at some point — are we really spending our money wisely?” asked Matt Senft, a software professional. Senft is first planning to help calculate how much it will cost to help each homeless person. A clear-eyed focus on real data, what a concept… (Seattle Times)

Seattle was awarded a $2.5 million grant from Bloomberg American Cities Climate Challenge to study a congestion pricing plan. Mayor Durkan’s plan would establish tolls to drive on select Seattle streets, with differing charges at different times. (My Northwest)

Eastern Washington

“I have determined that it is time for a new leadership to be put in place at the Yakima Police Department,” said City Manager Cliff Moore. Yakima Police Chief Dominic Rizzi Jr.’s employment agreement requires a 60-day period from the date of termination notification, which occurred yesterday. (Yakima Herald-Republic)
