State Rep. Timm Ormsby (D-Spokane) pleaded guilty to reckless driving after he lost control of his vehicle and rolled it into a neighbor’s yard. Ormsby pleaded down to reckless driving after initially being charged with driving under the influence. (The Olympian)
Gov. Jay Inslee calls the Canadian government’s decision to purchase and complete the Trans Mountain oil pipeline “unneighborly.” Inslee said in a Times op-ed that “it is with great disappointment that we view this proposal” to buy the pipeline from “Texas-based Kinder Morgan” (ooh, Texas, that’s bad!). Unsaid in the op-ed: There’s pretty much nothing Inslee can do about it. (Seattle Times)
Western Washington
Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan wants 500 new shelter beds for the homeless. Her plan would allocate $6.3 million toward creating roughly 500 new beds, along with more tiny-home encampments. (Seattle Times)
Former lefty Seattle mayoral candidate Nikkita Oliver is cranky that media outlets dare quote her Twitter feed. Oliver wrote earlier this week, “My twitter and Facebook do not count as comment for your articles.” Wait, should we have gotten permission to quote this? (My Northwest)
Eastern Washington
Jill Oldson will be Richland’s newest school board member after losing the seat two years ago on a coin toss. Oldson ran for the school board in 2015 in which the race ended in a tie and was ultimately decided on a flip of a coin. (Tri-City Herald)
