Wait, Dot Com ran for Spokane County Sheriff?

Happening in Olympia

Even after outside liberal groups dumped buckets of money into the race, Senator Mark Miloscia (R-Federal Way) led the nearest Democrat by 9.5 points. Senate Democrats have pegged the 30thLegislative District as a top target for expanding their majority, but party-switcher Miloscia performed very well. (Federal Way Mirror)

With multiple accusations of inappropriate behavior, legislative sanctions, and opposition from his own party hanging over him, state Rep. David Sawyer (D-Tacoma) got the primary result you might expect. Sawyer is neck-and-neck with a Republican candidate for second place, currently 77 votes back. He will not advance if he stays in third. Democratic challenger Melanie Morgan is far ahead with 41.2% of the primary vote to Sawyer’s 23.2%. (Tacoma News Tribune)

State Attorney General Bob Ferguson took a brief pause from launching new lawsuits against the Trump Administration to file a new lawsuit against a former New York stockbroker for charities fraud. Ferguson alleges Ian Richard Hosang set up six bogus nonprofit organizations with legitimate-sounding names and a Seattle address, possibly to cover up illegal activity. (The Spokesman-Review)

Dino Rossi easily advanced to the general in the race to fill retiring Congressman Dave Reichert’s seat. It looks like Rossi will face far, far left Kim Schrier, who as of Wednesday’s count was ahead of Jason Rittereiser by 1,518 votes. (KING 5)

Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist (D) had a pretty rough primary showing. Early results have challenger Mary Robnett leading by 10.5 points. Robnett, who is running as a non-partisan, is promising to get politics out of the Prosecutor’s Office. (Tacoma News Tribune)

Eastern Washington

As of Wednesday, Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers held a slight edge in votes over liberal Lisa Brown. The close primary result will likely lead to even more national attention directed toward Eastern Washington. “I’m going to continue to talk to the voters of Eastern Washington about my record of results as well as my vision,” said McMorris Rodgers.(The Spokesman-Review)

The contentious race for Spokane County Sheriff is not even close. Incumbent Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich (R) is garnering 85.6% in the latest primary count against fringe-right candidate Scott McClay, who legally changed his name to Dumpozzie Dot Com to run against Knezovich. McClay/Dot Com is polling 12.4%. (Spokane County Auditor)
