Happening in Olympia

Washington is joining 14 other states in suing President Trump’s administration for closing the DACA program, claiming the action is unconstitutional. Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson said this of the decision, “It’s outrageous. It is. It’s outrageous. I’m not going put up with it.”

Western Washington

Congressman Dave Reichert (R-WA) has announced plans for retirement. “I’d certainly like to see a Republican keep the district,” Reichert said after his announcement. “In making this decision I have no plans whatsoever. My plan is just to retire, and then after that, again as I have always said, I look at every opportunity.” It should also be noted that Reichert challenged anybody questioning his health to a push-up competition.

Unions in Seattle want to be allowed to handout the replacement democracy vouchers throughout the city before the fall elections.  Current state law only allows individual representatives of campaigns to collect and submit the vouchers.

Washington is suing the St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma because it has “lost its way,” and has withheld charity care from tens of thousands of patients since 2012. Attorney General Ferguson said they have violated state law in not treating said patients, laws which exist to, “help ensure that everyone has access to affordable medical care,” adding that he believes, “St. Joseph’s conduct is illegal, and harms vulnerable Washingtonians.”

Housing prices in Seattle continue to surge, with the single-family home price rising 18.2 percent when comparing rates to August of last year.

Eastern Washington

A wildfire responsible for torching miles and miles of land in Oregon was likely started by teenagers with fireworks according to investigators in Oregon. A cell phone video has revealed a teenage boy tossing fireworks into Eagle Creek Canyon – most likely sparking the fire that has burned over 30 square miles.

Reports of contamination in wells surrounding Airway Heights have been popping up throughout the past year – including a stint where residents had to rely on bottled water for a period of time due to the contamination.

Spokane’s air pollution has now broken the record for remaining in the “very unhealthy” and “hazardous” categories – reaching the highest level of contamination since records first started being kept.
