Western Washington

“Several years of transportation chaos” are “certain” in Seattle after the new Highway 99 tunnel opens because surface construction won’t be finished – meaning that, once again, WSDOT fails to take reality into consideration when it is making construction plans. (MyNorthwest)

405 tolls may go as high as $10 after experts at the University of Minnesota reported that raising the toll to $10 was the best way to manage the congestion on the interstate. Toll rates at WSDOT’s management of I-405 have been controversial, to say the least, with daily commuters. (The Seattle Times)

A nurses union gave Swedish Health’s administration a vote of no confidence on Tuesday. With a 98% vote the nurses union supported the no confidence motion, but Swedish’s CEO dismissed it as a union-negotiating tactic. (The Seattle Times)

Eastern Washington

Groups supporting the reintroduction of wolves in the state are offering rewards of up to $20,000 for information regarding recent wolf deaths in Eastern Washington. (The Seattle Times)

Alpha Kappa Lambda at WSU has been shut down after multiple hazing incidents required the state university to step in and remove the charter from the fraternity – which has been at WSU for 90 years. (The Spokesman-Review)
