“Campus inquisitions like the one at Evergreen State College must stop,” Frank Bruni wrote in a Seattle Times column yesterday – and we agree. The hypocrisy in protests like the one at Evergreen lies in the unwillingness of activists to hold a conversation with dissenters – even those who are their allies. Putting on blinders and labeling all opposition as evil will never solve anything. (Read more here.)

Seattle City Council voted in a soda tax yesterday, a vote that socialist councilmember Kshama Sawant was surprisingly absent from. The tax will be $1.75 cents per ounce and will not include diet sodas, nor will it include “milk drinks… it was unclear whether and how the syrups used in flavored lattes such as those ordered at Starbucks would be taxed,” The Seattle Times reported of the decision.

12 tankers are moving to Fairchild Air Force Base by 2020, moving the total fleet size to 56. “It’s well-placed to gas up aircraft going across the Pacific and it has the facilities we need without a lot of construction, making it the lower-cost option for the taxpayer,” Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson wrote in a news release.
