Happy Friday! The Oscars are coming up and we can’t wait to watch liberal celebrities lecture us from the stage.
We’re already practicing our reactions:

Happening in Olympia
A fourth DUI would become a felony if SB 5037 passes through the House. Washington’s State Senate passed the bill Thursday, which would make driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol a class C felony. Four DUIs equate to four gross misdemeanors under current state law.
State Rep. Mark Harmsworth (R-44) is fighting for lower car-tab fees. With HB 2132, cars would be valued “based on base model Kelly Blue Book values, or national automobile dealers association values, whichever is lower,” rather than the current MSRP value with depreciation factored in. “If we’re here, let’s value the vehicle correctly,” Harmsworth reasoned.
Labor Unions
SEIU 775 deducts tens of millions of dollars in annual dues from care provider paychecks, despite thousands of workers not realizing they are in the labor union – having never signed an authorization form for fees to be taken from their paychecks. This is illegal in Washington. The Washington State Supreme Court will be hearing a case brought forth by Miranda Thorpe to hopefully rectify this situation and prevent millions from being siphoned out of caregivers’ paychecks.
Western Washington
Who cares if you don’t own your house – you should still be the one making all of the decisions. At least, that’s how three of Seattle council members think. Tim Burgess, Lisa Herbold and Mike O’Brien have come together to try to create a renters’ commission so that the people who don’t own the homes in Seattle can have a bigger voice in how the homes are controlled. Makes total sense (if you’re a socialist).
Could Seattle be seeing the Sonics again? A new advisory panel, that includes a former Sonics coach, has been selected in an attempt to renovate Key Arena so that Seattle could once again see an NBA team – and maybe even retain an NHL team.
FUSE organized chaos against Congressman Reichert on Thursday as a tactic to recruit volunteers for Democrats to use in the special election for the 45th district senate seat.
Immigration Watch
Jay Inslee signed an executive order yesterday regarding immigration. Aside from federal government warrants for criminal arrest, state agencies are blocked from collecting information about immigration status, blocked from creating a registry based on religious status and blocked from participating in any civil immigration raid to prevent anything that is “mean-spirited” from happening. (Read the Executive Order)
When Liberals Collide
“Being dishonest with the communities… is irresponsible and dangerous,” Seattle Mayor Ed Murray (D) recently declared following rally cries made by Seattle City Councilmember Kshama Sawant (S) to create “chaos” (see: Why We Should Strike on May Day) and “demand that (Mayor Murray) use Seattle Police… to block ICE from seizing human beings.” Ignorance, in this case, will not lead to bliss. Murray has had to clarify that Seattle police do not have the power to stop federal immigration raids in our city – but that is much less interesting than a war cry.
Out of Left Field
Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson has declared he will “resist any efforts by the Trump administration to undermine the will of the voters,“ regarding the legality of marijuana in Washington. Our question: where was this flurry of activity in the charter schools lawsuit? He’s just solidifying his liberal base as he prepares his run for governor.
Friday Funny
The Onion Report: 98 Percent of U.S. Commuters Favor Public Transportation For Others: people love mass transit – if it will “get some of these other cars off the road.” How many people supporting mass transit plan to use it for more than just work – for picking their kids up from school and going to the grocery store as well? Are the Democrats going to sell their cars, too? They won’t need them anymore.
