Taxpayers will be able to let lawmakers know their opinion on new tax laws on the next ballot because of Initiative 960. The new initiative, while nonbinding, will allow voters to fill out “the tax increase report card (as) a way to find out what people think.”

Manka Dhingra, candidate for the 45th LD, has decided Federal Way will be home to a heroin injection site – which happens to be news to everyone else. As of now, Seattle is set to play host to heroin injection sites, should they become legalized, but perhaps Dhingra “has information that hasn’t been made public or been provided to the county’s communications team.”
Olympic National Park officials are holding open houses to determine a solution for the mountain goats plaguing the Olympia Peninsula. The non-native goats are pushing out native wildlife and vegetation. Park officials are weighing a series of options to remove them.
The Puget Sound Clear Air Agency has issued an Air Quality Burn Ban – meaning you can’t barbeque, hold a campfire, bonfire or use a fireplace until further notice. Wildfires have increased temperatures and turned the air quality “unhealthy” as per standards set by the Dept. of Ecology.
Eastern Washington
The process to fill a vacant seat on the Spokane Public Schools board of directors will soon begin, with the board accepting applications through the end of the month. Once they review and interview applicants, the board hopes to swear a new member into the vacant seat on September 27th.
