After four long, and expensive, years of drilling – Bertha finally broke free! Not much else to say other than…it’s about time.
Happening In Olympia
“Lawmakers in Olympia have a strong record of accomplishment in protecting your personal information,” Rep. Norma Smith (R-Clinton) said in an op-ed for The Seattle Times. One example of such is HB 1904, “which would tax those who sell Washingtonians’ personal information.”
Secretary of State Kim Wyman has asked that we wear “fun socks,” to help encourage her fight against cancer. Post your silliest socks to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with #WymanRocksTheSocks so that she can see your support!

A federal judge in Seattle has blocked the new law which would have allowed ride-share drivers to unionize. Drivers for Lyft and Uber will not be able to unionize under the law passed by Seattle City Council. Those arguing against unionization say that drivers are competitors and that allowing them to unionize would be anti-competitive in that it would essentially be “forming a cartel.”
Union officials “strongly encouraged” Sheriff John Urquhart of King County to have, “allegations of misconduct… thoroughly and transparently investigated by an independent authority.” Puget Sound Police Managers Association, the union which represents the 30 high-ranking sheriff commanders in King County, have sent a letter to Sheriff Urquhart notifying him that members are “deeply troubled by the ongoing allegations of misconduct.” The letter does not specifically name allegations and Sheriff Urquhart has denied any allegations against him are true, saying he is “confused” by the request for an investigation.
JZ Knight, Democrat donor from Yelm, declared support for Trump. “That man is trumping deceit. He doesn’t smoke, he doesn’t do drugs, he does business!” Knight claims to channel Ramtha, a 35,000-year-old spirit warrior. Knight has sent tens of thousands in donations to Democrats – with $70,000 of those donations being returned after an offensive video was aired online involving Knight.

The Nature Conservancy has been thinning forests in the Central Cascades in order to reduce risk of severe wildfires. The group has been selectively logging the area as a preventative measure. “We’re changing how the fire would burn, and changing it from severe to a fire that would be good and maintain forest healthy,” senior forest ecologist Ryan Haugo said.
Out of Left Field
Liberal hypocrisy was highlighted when figures showed Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts) paid women working for her 71 cents for every dollar paid to her male staffers. What this means is that the gender pay gap for people working under Sen. Warren was nearly 10% more than the national average.
Rep. Pramila Jayapal and her friend Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Vermont) seem to think they will be able to create a $600 billion tax on Wall Street to fund free college. We’re wondering if they actually believe they can get this through Congress or if it is just another liberal ploy to grab headlines and vilify businesses.
On Equal Pay Day, Zillow Group decided to change pay – but it is still unequal. Zillow announced yesterday they would be paying women $1.01 for every dollar earned by men. “We believe in creating equal career opportunities for all men and woman and providing equal and fair compensation for all our employees,” CEO Spencer Rascoff said.
