Today is budget release day in the “other Washington”, which has plenty of folks scurrying to find excuses for why it doesn’t even matter. As described by Roll Call:
“The budget President Barack Obama sends to Congress on Tuesday will be a month late and hundreds of billions of dollars short.”
Our own Senator Patty Murray is taking a different approach to the budget this year, deciding that her Senate Budget Committee is done for the year. Evidently the Democrat-controlled Senate is worn out after being able to pass a budget resolution last year, for the first time since 2009. It also appears that Senate Democrats are afraid of taking potentially controversial budget votes this year, when voters might be paying attention.
