Sometimes the best strategy for fair-minded people is to let the Loony Left speak for themselves. Just such an occasion presented itself in a post yesterday in Real Change, with Democrat labor activist Linda Averill speaking for the party of Jay Inslee, et al.
She laid out a positive Democrat approach for dealing with potential budget cuts for King County bus service, and given she works for the Transit Union, she must know her stuff, right? Just consider some of her solutions just waiting to be embraced by those Democrats who receive money from her union, because as she puts it “County politicians need to look to the 1 Percent for new funds”:
“implement a tax on large employers, such as Amazon, Microsoft, Costco, Starbucks and Boeing” for each employee
“A steeply graduated income tax on millionaires and big corporations could raise hundreds of millions of dollars — enough to fund all the public services that residents need.”
“higher fees on developers like Vulcan, which profits from zoning laws that promote density”
Yes, some truly innovative thinking there on how to fix King County’s transit challenges – raise taxes high enough to drive enough businesses out of the county – or out of business – so that fewer people are around to take the bus.
