It appears House Appropriations Chairman Ross Hunter was tired of his committee being ignored this session, so he decided it was time to open up his committee for public testimony … at 10:30 at night … with no public notice. Not surprising, the public doesn’t show up to committee hearings in the middle of the night, especially when they aren’t told they are happening.
How did Rep. Hunter and the committee respond to no one showing up for his secret public testimony time? They laughed and laughed.
Why exactly would Rep. Hunter not want actually hear public testimony? Because it was on a bill to undercut the state’s four-year budgeting process, and make it easier for the Democrat-controlled House to start deficit spending again.
Gee, I wonder if Ross Hunter was counting on the public not noticing his scheme to get the over-spending machine humming again.
