It has been obvious to most political observers that President Obama is much more comfortable with a permanent campaign than he is in actually governing, and over the weekend several reporters decided it was time to shift focus to the fall elections and forget about any legislating this year. The Washington Post captured the sentiment of many, writing “As he seeks to rally the Democratic base, Obama — who will never again have to face voters himself — is striking a more combative and partisan tone.”
So much for the “post-partisan” candidate who got elected in 2008 promising to bring the parties together for the good of the country, eh?
