Republicans are often accused of believing there is a Democrat conspiracy around every corner. Yet, every once in awhile a liberal gets a little too smug, and actually tells the truth about just such a conspiracy.
Consider a piece posted today in Grist , a far-left environmental news service (which was also posted on the equally far-left Sightline Daily), with a headline that says it all: “America’s cities are still too afraid to make driving unappealing”
It’s a good read for anybody – at least those not hanging out with the Transportation Choices, transit-only crowd in Seattle – to help understand why liberals are against such radical ideas as adding congestion relief to the goals of the State Department of Transportation, or reforming the way we spend transportation dollars to ensure more of the money actually goes to transportation.
Simply put – by them – “we’re not implementing any policies that disincentivize driving.”
And after reading, perhaps you may be motivated to work against Proposition 1, the King County ballot measure that will raise taxes on car-owners (and anybody who buys anything) throughout the county to pay for Seattle-centric transit, and if successful will make it virtually impossible to pass a statewide transportation in the near future. At least, that’s their plan.
