It’s not every day that Senator Harry Reid is willing to stand up for the truth, and attack the corrupting influence of big labor money on his own political party – and that day still has not come, although a Wall Street Journal opinion piece does point out how close he came to this truth.
In case you have missed it, Sen. Reid has been spending a bit of time on the Senate floor in recent days railing against David and Charles Koch, brothers who have made the terrible decision (according to Reid) of standing up for free-market policies. Yet, as the op-ed points out, if the Senator were really worried about “unlimited money” trying to “rig the system”, he would looks no further than his big-spending friends in organized labor.
But, expecting Reid to stand up for anything other than his narrow self-interest is a pipe dream, as is well demonstrated by his partnering with President Obama to illegally close down the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository site, at the expense of Hanford and Washington State.
