Turns out that President Obama’s vaunted economic recovery stimulus package turned five years old yesterday – though you might not have noticed if you get most of your news from Democrat politicians (or the news media outlets they frequent). Turns out that the President had absolutely nothing to say to mark the occasion of his borrowing and spending over $800 million back in 2009 to help get our economy moving
Perhaps that’s because, according to the Associated Press, the economy doesn’t show many signs of having been stimulated.
SouthernRoots says
Due to the continuing resolution process and lack of budgets, that $800 billion stimulus was incorporated into all of the subsequent budgets, meaning that 2009. 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 all include that supposed onetime bump in spending – $4.8 trillion.
The highest spending before Obama was $2.88 trillion (2008) which included TARP. After Obama was elected, the lowest amount of spending was $3.46 trillion (2010).
2009 spending was $3.518 trillion (which included the “onetime” $800 billion stimulus).
Obama and the Democrats have spent $4.8 trillion in “stimulus” since 2009 and our economy is still in the tank.
