Murray threatens to use FBI after secret labor negotiations leaked

Last week, the Stranger — a far, far-Left weekly– published an article describing ongoing contract negotiations between the City of Seattle and its police union. Like those that occur between Jay Inslee and the state employee unions that give him big money, contract negotiations are supposed to be conducted in secret at the unions’ insistence.

No contract has been approved. The police union has not held a vote on contract changes.

Yet, details of the contract changes were leaked to the Stranger. In fact, the lefty publication even posted a summary of the contract on its website.

The leak left Seattle Mayor Ed Murray fuming. Murray commented:

“I’m shocked to learn that some who call themselves progressives in our city are willing to sacrifice the integrity of this process for a perceived political gain. I would expect this from the far right in Wisconsin, not the left in Seattle.”

But, Murray did not stop at his not-so-underhanded attempt to insult the people of Wisconsin. Murray also stated:

“The City is exploring several law enforcement options, including hiring an independent investigator to identify the responsible party and to determine compliance with City laws that require confidentiality in the collective bargaining process, as well as any potential criminal violations under state and federal law. The City is also in discussions about the investigation with the FBI.”

That’s right, Murray threatened to involve the FBI in the incident.

Ironically, Murray wants a wide variety of illegal things to be legal. He has pushed for allowing homeless individuals to legally get drunk or high in public without fear of arrest. And, he’s shown leniency to anarchists who throw Molotov cocktails and bite police officers. But, an issue of government transparency crosses the line for Murray.

Public intoxication and drug use, that’s perfectly fine — but heaven forbid secret contract negotiations involving taxpayer dollars see the light of day. For that, we call in the feds.
