Earlier this week, Jay Inslee sent out yet another fundraising email, exhorting his followers that “it’s time to get to work”.
Evidently, he didn’t mean that for himself, as our latest look at his weekly schedule shows.
Now, admittedly, it was Thanksgiving week, so one would not expect Jay to get close to 40 hours of work in for the people of Washington State. But, coming off a weeklong Hawaiian vacation, you’d think he’s have a bit of a backlog that would require some extra hours.
Not for Jay though.
Instead, on the three days of the week he did make it into the office, he “worked” under 6-and-half-hours each day, never making it to the office before 8:15 and never staying past 5:15. Evidently Jay’s idea of work was a total of 18 hours, 15 minutes spent on such activities as meeting with the Laborers Union, the Carpenters Union, the Operating Engineers Union, the Building and Construction Trades Union, and a long meeting with his budget people on how to explain that his half-billion dollar giveaway contract with the state employees union makes economic sense.
For Inslee, taking care of his campaign donors is hard work!
But, Jay reverted to form by dialing it in for the four-day weekend. Though he did schedule a 20-minute meeting with the President of Washington State University so that he could justify talking the state plane to the Apple Cup game.
So, maybe we’ll see next week if Inslee is ready to “get to work.
