Two emails went out this week from Governor Jay Inslee imploring his people to cough up money for him and his colleagues so that they can better respond to mounting criticism. It should be noted that, although Inslee is not on a ballot, he still needs your money to help polish his image. In his fundraising emails, the governor seems particularly aghast that his critics have “even asked for more money from their donors to ‘elect more Republicans to stand up against Jay Inslee.’” After reading these frantic pleas, we thought we should do a quick review of why Inslee is in this position before we all go digging out our checkbooks.
The desperate plea comes at the end of what can be considered a terrible month for the Inslee administration and Washington State Democrats alike. Facing backlash on his potential CERT taxes and inability to stand up to unions coupled with the mess that is the Washington State Department of Transportation and the ongoing scandal of one Washington state legislator in particular, it is no surprise that Inslee and his “colleagues” are being forced to fundraise as if it were August of a gubernatorial election year.
He is right about one thing…the attacks from his critics will not be stopping anytime soon. The banner month for Inslee and his Democrats was capped off with the most liberal newspaper in the state turning on Democrats, rightfully saying that “Democratic lawmakers gave in to pressure from the teacher’s union” and in doing so failed our children. At this point would it just be adding insult to injury to mention the decreasing popularity of the $15/hour minimum wage or the Democrats pushing for a state income tax?
It appears that even those that are left of center are starting to figure out that the Inslee administration and the Dems are doing a disastrous job of running our state, keeping in mind that these infractions are just a few highlights of Inslee’s second summer in office. So excuse us if we pass up on this fundraising opportunity and continue to spend our time shining the light on the failures of Inslee’s liberal agenda.
