Last week, Jay Inslee attended the Washington’s Energy Future Conference where he delivered a three-point action plan on climate change. Beyond his usual calls for his extreme “green” agenda (i.e. his “cap on emissions” scheme), Inslee also managed to make multiple absurd statements that would be comical if the reality wasn’t that they came out of the mouth of the governor of Washington. Here are two of the most ridiculous.
- On the growth of charging stations for electric vehicles (somehow we’re sure PETA isn’t fond of this analogy): “This is how we skin this cat. We do the small things that we can do..”
- In a pathetic—and more than a little bizarre—attempt to add humor to his extreme “green” schemes: “I’m all for colonizing Mars, as long as it’s choice, not a necessity.”
This isn’t the first time our very “green” governor delivered cringe-worthy remarks during a climate change speech. In fact, perhaps the most ridiculous part of his speech last week is that he repeated previous remarks made during other conferences—as if he did not learn his lesson. Here’s what he said at the Climate Summit of the Americas in Canada this summer:
“People at the turn of the century in London were worried about ‘Where are we going to put all the horse manure? There’s a lot of horse manure with all those carriages. What the hell are we going to do?’ So they invented the car. Same with whales. Thank God we found oil or we would still be killing whales…
“There’s a lot of people out there who don’t get it. They’re asleep. They’re on the Titanic and they’re drinking champagne and they’re about to crash…
Obviously, last week wasn’t the first time Inslee used awkward, grandstanding tactics in an attempt to drive support for his extreme green agenda. Unfortunately for us all, it probably won’t be the last.
