The people just aren’t listening to California billionaire Tom Steyer the way he expected. As the Wall Street points out, he promised in February to raise $50 million from fellow climate zealots to attack Republicans, and yet he has raised less than 4% of that amount.
Of course, his fundraising wasn’t helped by the fact that he was shown to be a climate hypocrite for making a big chunk of his hedge fund billions by investing in environmentally suspect projects. And it wasn’t Republicans pointing out that hypocrisy – Steyer was outed by the Washington Post and New York Times for his failings.
Further, his initial attack ads against Republicans haven’t been about climate change at all, and have been widely panned for being, well, “bizarre.”
He’s basically been reduced to being a talking head for left, showing up at such powerful (cough) conferences as the “annual American Renewable Energy Day Summit” to pick up an award essentially for his willingness to write a big check for Democrats.
At least he got a trip to Aspen for it. Wonder if he took a private jet there, just to increase his carbon footprint?
