President Obama’s new anti-energy EPA rule finalizes the shift in the Democrat Party away from its working class roots, in favor of liberal billionaires like California’s Tom Steyer, writes the Wall Street Journal. It is now clear that “The richer coasts dominated by gentry liberals now trump the union jobs of the Midwest. Finance (New York and San Francisco) is more honored than manufacturing (Ohio and Indiana), notwithstanding the vestigial Democratic rhetoric about ‘made in America.’”
Of course, this latest example of putting money before principle may cost the Democrats control of the U.S. Senate, but since Obama never has to appear on a ballot again, he escapes any personal punishment for this elitist move.
