The media continues to pick up on the hypocritical political approach of California billionaire Tom Steyer, with NPR’s Austin Jenkins peeling off the veneer of Steyer’s secret “partnership” with Jay Inslee. Despite trying to hide his involvement in Washington campaigns by laundering money through local political committees, Steyer is failing to stay behind the scenes.
As Jenkins reports, Steyer met with Inslee last spring to hatch a plan to get involved in attacking Republican candidates to Washington State. That half-million dollar effort failed, with Jan Angel winning a special state Senate election last November despite the Steyer-funded attacks.
The question now is how much of Steyer’s $100 million negative-campaign war chest will be invested in our state, to try and provide Inslee with a state legislature that will do his extreme environmental bidding – like approving Inslee’s $1-plus gas tax scheme.
