A recent state audit report indicates Washington’s Obamacare health exchange has not been fully reimbursed by the state and federal Medicaid program. In fact, the Washington Health Benefit Exchange (WHBE) has not been reimbursed for about $90 million in Medicaid services from January 2014 through June 2016.
According to The Seattle Times:
“The audit said the exchange used at least $51 million in federal grants, which may need to be repaid. If the exchange had received full reimbursement, it would recover $12 million more for the second half of the current fiscal year, and more than $77 million for 2014 and 2015, the report said.”
Why should you care?
Well, it’s another example of a shocking level of government incompetence — at multiple levels. At the state level, government bureaucrats — apparently — did not notice (or did not care about) using federal grants without a guarantee of reimbursement for a year and a half. And, again, at the federal level, government bureaucrats did not notice (or did not care about) the lack of reimbursement for a year and a half.
Yet, despite a constant stream of incompetency, Washington Democrats endorsed a single-payer healthcare system in their party platform. In other words, they want to give even more power over our healthcare system to government bureaucrats — to the detriment of working families everywhere.
