The State Supreme Court is set to weigh in on whether or not state lawmakers have done enough to comply with the court’s earlier order to fix issues with school funding. Attorney General Bob Ferguson wrote, “The State is in compliance, no further remedy is necessary. The Court need not retain jurisdiction any longer. It is time for this case to end.” (The Olympian)

Jacquelin Maycumber, who went from legislative assistant to now legislator, is hoping to keep her job. After her former boss, then Representative Shelly Short, moved to the State Senate, Maycumber was appointed to fill the vacated seat. If it sounds familiar, that’s because it is. Most famously, Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers made a similar jump from assistant to representative. (The Spokesman Review)
