Governor Inslee is weighing in on the Seattle mayoral race 

Happening in Olympia

Governor Inslee did not wait long to politicize the act of evil that took place on Sunday in Las Vegas. Inslee, along with many of his liberal colleagues, is calling for new gun regulations in Washington state in response to the shooting. (The Olympian)

Western Washington

Yesterday Governor Inslee announced he would be supporting former U.S. attorney Jenny Durkan for Seattle mayor. In his announcement Inslee said, “we need a mayor who combines progressive values with, second, the ability to get things done.” (The Seattle Times)

The Puget Sound Business Journal obtained emails between Seattle city bureaucrats, shedding light on options the city is weighing for how to spend the income tax revenue. You can read about a few of the city’s plans here. Remember, the city still has to defend the unconstitutional tax in court. (MyNorthwest)

The Seattle Times editorial board is recommending Washington move its presidential primary vote up to March. The Times board asks that Washington State join Oregon and California in having an earlier primary. (The Seattle Times)

Eastern Washington

Danny Agsalog was announced as Yakima’s new finance and budget director. Agsalog will begin his role as budget director on October 16. (Yakima Herald)
