Happening In Olympia

SB 5941 would make it illegal to wear masks in public, including at protests and walking down the street, with exceptions for religious reasons. The legislation would prohibit wearing any clothing that covers peoples’ faces, as it is not limited to just masks.

Western Washington

The Port of Seattle has paid $1.7 million in legal fees two defend the SeaTac Airport from lawsuits. Newly released records show the Port paying legal fees to protect against discrimination lawsuits filed against the airport over the last three years.

A second complaint has been filed against the King County’s Sheriff John Urquhart for discrimination and harassment against women. The lawyer for Mary Syson, master patrol officer, says she has suffered “economic losses and significant emotional and psychological damages as a result of the actions of the Sheriff and his command staff.”

Homeless camps under I-90 will soon be cleared, as the area is set to be used to assist in East Link Light Rail construction. The homeless camps have also been deemed a safety issue by Seattle officials because of weapons and trafficking of teens.
