Representatives in the House are set to begin a debate over the House Democrats’ McCleary proposal, HB 1843, at any moment now. Be sure to watch out for when the Democrats try to pull a fast one over on everybody with their bill that proposes a solution – but has no teeth, no way to fund their solution. What’s more? This proposal will become obsolete if funding is not secured by June 30, 2017 and so far the only plan that the bill has to secure funding is by taxing the people $6 billion per biennium. Let’s watch the Democrats try to talk their way out of this one…

Socialist Watch

Socialist Councilmember Kshama Sawant calling for unrest again, penning a war cry in the socialist magazine Jacobin, asking people to help “create disruption on an even greater scale.” Sawant plans to springboard protests off of May Day, with protests that “shut down highways, airports and other key infrastructure.” If most of Seattle is already against Trump… just what exactly is Sawant hoping to achieve? Somebody should remind her that last year, May Day protests ended in violence and injury – not peaceful walks around the city.

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray (D) plans to sue Trump’s administration if his demands for the justification behind President Trump’s executive orders regarding sanctuary cities are not met within 20 days. Murray is using the a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to file for the information and says he plans to “take legal action if the federal government does not answer our requests in a timely manner.”

As if legalizing tents in the city wasn’t enough, Seattle Mayor Ed Murray (D) now wants to double spending on homelessness by introducing a property-tax levy as a remedy to get people off of the streets. The catch? Murray has admitted he doesn’t actually have a plan yet – he just wants more money from the taxpayers. Mayor Murray so perfectly sums up the liberal answer to every problem: when in doubt, just raise taxes.

The Seattle City Council passed legislation to raise height limits on University District buildings that will be located close to the light-rail station that is set to open in 2021. Legislation mandates affordable apartments be built within the new high-rise buildings – or that the developers of said buildings help pay for affordable housing somewhere else in the city.

Spokane Democrats have invited Bernie Sanders supporter Nina Turner, from Ohio, to speak at their Legacy Dinner on March 25. The fun part here? Watching the Democrats become divisive. Turner has flip-flopped between candidates – first Clinton, then Sanders and then refusing to support Clinton against Trump. Do you think she’ll be championing Senator Warren now instead?

On a better note, Tomi Lahren has agreed to speak at the Republican Party’s Lincoln Day Dinner. Lahren has made headlines as of late for her unapologetic support for Republicans and is sure to give a much more interesting speech in early June when she comes to Spokane.
