The Seattle blog Crosscut devotes five stories in today’s edition to the State Senate primary race in the 35th Legislative District, where maverick Democrat Tim Sheldon is facing challenges from both the right and left. However, one interesting item was left out of all five of the stories – any mention of the racist money coming in from the largest donor to the Democrat challenger’s campaign, Irene Bowling.
As of Monday, Bowling is now the top beneficiary of JZ Knight’s $65,000 donation to the Thurston County Democrat Party, after the party pumped $10,500 into Bowling’s campaign. That’s the same JZ Knight who channels the 35,000 year-old warrior Ramtha, and has run into controversy in the past for her somewhat “unique” views, though Knight qualifies as a “good Democrat” according to the Thurston Democrat chairman.
In case you missed it, videos of Knight attacking Hispanics, gays, and Catholics in 2012 led the State Democrat Party to return her donations – after party leaders had first used the money to help their candidates, of course. The Thurston County Democrats have now decided that Knight’s racist rant makes her a better Democrat than Senator Sheldon, a 22-year Democrat elected officials who has made the mistake of voting against tax increases favored by the liberals who control the Senate Democrat caucus in Olympia.
Ms. Bowling and the Thurston County Democrats are obviously hoping that word of racist source of her big money won’t reach voters before next Tuesday’s primary. It will be interesting to see if the district’s media decides to let anyone know.
